We are calling for an end to the Andrews Government cruel Brumby management that includes aerial and ground shooting Brumbies.

Recent photographic evidence held has proven that shooting contractors failed to comply with Standard Operating Procedures and Brumbies suffered long drawn out cruel and inhumane deaths.

The cruelty is in breach of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and RSPCA must prosecute Parks Victoria.

Forensic photographic evidence of Brumbies recently shot by contractors commissioned by Parks Victoria, in the Victorian Alpine Park, have proven that the contractors failed to satisfy Standard Operating Procedures.

The Brumbies suffered long, drawn-out cruel and inhumane deaths.

None of the Brumbies were killed instantly. They took bullets in various parts of their bodies. Standard Operating Procedures state that shooting in various parts of the horses bodies MUST not take place.

A mare in foal took a gut shot, involuntarily aborting before dying a long cruel death, leaving a six month foal by her side.

A stallion took a bullet to the flank and neck and died a long drawn out death.

A mare at his side took a bullet to the neck, evidence shows she thrashed around before dying a long drawn out death as photos show damage to her legs and the ground dug out beneath her hoof

Standard Operating Procedures do not support ground shooting in remote rough areas and for months before this operation commenced stakeholders demanded the Andrews Government not to proceed. We were ignored.

Parks Victoria assert the contractors are crack shooters, nobody can be a crack shooter if visibility is denied, or if shooting from a helicopter.

I am asking for you as your Constituent to speak for me on the floor of Parliament and support the end to this barbaric and cruel  treatment of sentient creatures who are culturally iconic to this country.

Support the introduction of a Bill for Legislation that will endorse an end to cruel and barbaric shooting, population counts using a method such as drone and camera that will report genuine numbers, recognise the Heritage value of our Brumbies and protect that value and the environmen with introduction of sensible Legislation.

We as a society cannot endorse barbaric treatment of sentient creatures and it is time the Andrews Government stop this cruel and inhumane treatment and listened to the voting public.

It is election time and Brumby management that reflects these wishes is uppermost on my mind when voting.
